Sri Lanka
is rich with a wide range of tropical
fruits that grows in plantations as much
as in backyards of most locals. The
sweet succulent fruits can be used to
making puddings and cakes, processed
into making jam or cordial and even
served merely as a traditional dessert.
Tourists as much as locals, enjoy
various types of mangoes and bananas as
well as other popular fruits such as
Rambutan, Pineapples, oranges, papaws,
guavas, melons, grapefruit and avocados.
In most hotels fruits are used to
garnish local and exotic dishes as well
as to make elaborate and graceful
creations that are displayed mostly with

north and west part of Kandy. Centuries

on the range of spices the island had to
