Elephant Orphanage |
|
 |
|
These are the world's biggest orphans. Their foster home is spread over a piece of land of about 10 hectares and currently it houses
pachyderm population of around 53. Yes you can see the baby elephants being fed with oversized milk bottles, you can see the whole herd going for their daily bath in the nearby stream. It's one of the best places to be if you are
traveling in Sri Lanka.

Wild Life |
Though Sri Lanka is very small in land
area, the great diversity in habitats
harbors are a rich and diverse fauna and
flora, with many species endemic to the
island. Historically as well as in the
modern era, successive rulers and

Birds |
Sri lanka houses more than 400 species of Bird. A really interesting fact is that most of these birds are tourists who
arrive here to spend their winter under the sun just like the human tourist contingent that arrive in Sri lanka. We also have about 26 species who are considered as endemic birds of Sri lanka. We will take you to our two of most visited bird sanctuaries. One is called Kumana
and the other one is called Muthurajavela. |

Flora
|
|
 |
|
One of the must see places in the country is the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. Situated in close proximity to our hill capital Kandy, it's origin dates back to the British colonial times.
Perhaps you'd be interested to know that it houses a famous garden of Orchids including most of our endemic Orchid
varieties. A garden of the similar kind lies in the hilly region of Nuwaraeliya.
